Embarrassing claims in Goodwin book

A BOOK containing embarrassing claims about the disgraced former Royal Bank of Scotland Boss, Sir Fred Goodwin, is to be released next month.

According to reports today, the book – written by Conservative MPs, Matthew Hancock, a former aide to George Osborne and Nadhim Zahawi – tells of how members of Sir Fred’s staff “went in to panic mode” after a window cleaner fell from a ladder in his office and broke a small model aeroplane,

Also included is an episode in which a pink wafer biscuit was allegedly included with Sir Fred’s afternoon tea – allegedly prompting him to send an e-mail entitled “Rouge Biscuits” threatening disciplinary action.

Masters of Nothing: The Crash and How It Will Happen Again is set to be published in the first week of September.

It is also reported that the book will claim that Sir Fred refused to allow the bank’s chief economist to appear before MPs until the chair of a Commons select committee called to explain that “if he chose not to attend he would be summoned – with the full force of the police in reserve”.

It has also been reported that a serial of Masters of Nothing is to be published in a Sunday newspaper.

The book has been produced by Tory blogger and political commentator Ian Dale’s Biteback publishing.

The claims come after reports on Saturday that Sir Fred had been asked to leave the family home by his wife Joyce.

It has been reported that Sir Fred left the couple’s £3.5 million mansion in Colinton as long as a month ago. It is believed the former banker, who was at the helm of RBS between 2001 and 2009 and was criticised for his role in the financial crisis, has moved to another property owned by the couple.
