Emergency teams help kids to ride high

two children who have struggled with ill-health have benefited from the fundraising efforts of firefighters in Broxburn, West Lothian.

Jack Love, nine, who suffers from heart disease, and Shaelyn Bayliss, five, who is recovering from cancer of the kidneys, were each presented with new bikes by the firefighters.

Their fundraising efforts included an open day at the fire station. Firefighter John McGinn said: “I think we raised about £1800 during the fundraising drive.

“The money was raised through raffles, tombolas and we also relied heavily on donations from people and businesses in the community. We wish to say thanks to all those who donated and helped us out.” Money will also go to the Firefighters Charity, which helps injured firefighters.
