Energy supply upgrade begins

WORK was due to start today on a major project to upgrade the electricity supply system to a West Lothian town.

Lothians Labour MSP Neil Findlay welcomed the start of the electricity work in Longridge and paid tribute to campaigners who had pressed for the upgrade.

The project by Scottish Power will see the existing overhead network on the town’s Main Street moved underground.

Mr Findlay said: “I am delighted this long-awaited work is about to start. There is no doubt that the beginning of this work is the culmination of that community campaign.”
