Video: Edinburgh fans marvel at Avengers: Infinity War preview

Avengers co-director Joe Russo thrilled fans with a personal introduction to an exclusive showing of footage from the latest blockbuster.

Fans were treated to explosive scenes at the Fountain Park Cineworld last night which featured a host of the main characters including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Pratt, Tom Holland and Zoe Saldana.

Following a petition by fan Mae Trumata, the directors said “we’re on it” and arranged the special screening in Edinburgh. Joe asked Mae to stand for a round of applause ahead of the screening. She said: “It was amazing – I didn’t expect that. I’m all giddy inside.

With demand at a premium Joe announced a second sitting to allow the corridors of waiting fans another chance to catch a glimpse of Infinity War before it is officially released.

The new blockbuster brings together key characters from previous Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy films to defeat powerful warlord Thanos, a villain billed as a “despot of intergalactic infamy.” It has already emerged that Edinburgh will provide the backdrop to one of the most dramatic sequences in the film.

Frank Ross, Edinburgh’s Lord Provost, said: “Avengers: Inifity Wars is one of the most anticipated blockbusters of the year and fans in Edinburgh are getting to sample it first.
