The YouTuber and videographer ventured on a cold winter’s day to Cammo Estate, located in the north-west outskirts of Edinburgh.

He negotiates an icy stretch to enter the wooded estate, which he describes as having a “fairytale vibe”.

The estate, situated about six miles from the city centre, has been dubbed as one of Edinburgh’s hidden gems, and is thought to be the inspiration behind the House of Shaws in Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel Kidnapped.

The ten-part walking series, sponsored by the Scotsman and the Edinburgh Evening News, will celebrate the best of the outdoors in and around Edinburgh.

Mr Mason returned to his native Edinburgh in October after spending five years living on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

After spending lockdown on the European continent, the 40-year-old has set about reconnecting with his native city by filming the series of outdoor guided tours.

In part three, Mr Mason explores Cammo House, which was originally built in 1693, but was largely destroyed by fire after being bequeathed to the National Trust for Scotland.

He also bills the walk around the estate, which is around 1.5 miles and takes about an hour to complete, as a great outing for those with children.

In future parts of the series, Mr Mason will be climbing the Braid Hills, trekking out to Cramond Island and heading further afield to the Pentland Hills, once Covid restrictions ease.
