Our Bin Watch campaign was launched after rubbish started piling up on the streets during last summer’s Fringe. We called on readers to act and the mobile phone pictures you sent in showing the worst blackspots helped prompt a 65-point council plan to tackle the problem.

Reporter Courtney Cameron was recognised for a range of exclusive stories, including her scoop about Her Majesty The Queen enjoying a rare meal out with friends at Duddingston’s Sheep Heid pub.

Evening News Deputy Editor Euan McGrory praised Courtney’s work.

He said: “The great empathy that Courtney has for the people that she interviews shines through in everything that she does and writes.”

The prestigious awards were presented at a ceremony at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow. The awards saw a record number of entries this year.
