Fears grow for missing 77-year-old

FEARS are growing for a 77-year-old woman missing from her home in West Lothian since yesterday morning.

Police have issued an appeal in helping tracing Irene McCawley of Boghall in Bathgate.

She was last seen by her husband around 9am yesterday and was reported missing when she failed to return home.

She is described as being white, about 5ft 5ins tall, of stocky build, and with white short hair. At the time she went missing she was wearing a plum coloured three-quarter length coat and may also be carrying a black handbag.

Officers are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare, and a number of local search teams are out in the area making inquiries.

Chief Inspector Stephen Elliot said: “Mrs McCawley’s disappearance is completely out of character and we are particularly worried about her welfare, especially in this inclement weather.

“We are appealing to anyone who might have seen her since 9am yesterday to get in touch.”
