Fiddle festival is event of year

A FIDDLE festival held in the Capital has been named the Event of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards.

The honour, based on a public vote, was handed out at a ceremony in Fort William.

The Scots Fiddle Festival, which lasts for a weekend every November, has run annually for 17 years, initially at the Assembly Rooms and now the Queen’s Hall and King’s Hall.

Artistic director Eilidh Steel, who accepted the award, said “I was absolutely delighted the festival received this award.”
