Film fest to be peak viewing

The tenth annual Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival kicks off this weekend.

The festival began in 2003 and, with almost 3000 visitors each year, is now one of the best-attended mountain film festivals in the UK.

The event begins on Friday night and will feature lectures from famous mountaineers and explorers alongside the best new mountain films and exhibitions.

This year’s speakers include Alan Hinkes – one of only 13 people to have climbed the world’s 14 peaks which are higher than 8000m – and climber, base-jumper and adventurer, Leo Holding.
