Fire crews tackle Edinburgh flat fire as smoke seen billowing from window

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed they are in attendance at an ongoing incident in Leith.

The fire was reported just before 7am today, Monday December 7, on Albion Road, Leith.

A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said this morning: "We got the call at 6.55am. Crews from McDonald Road and Marionville fire stations are in attendance at the scene.

"Crews have used four sets of breathing apparatus and a line of hose to extinguish the fire."

The spokesperson for the SFRS was unable to confirm where exactly the fire was in the property as crews are still in attendance.

The incident is ongoing.

Brian McRoberts, a Leith resident, took to Twitter to share an image of the scene from the building opposite. The Tweet read: “Looks like a bad flat fire on Albion Road Leith. Just across from us. Firebrigade in attendance”
