Forth Estuary given £230k

THE FORTH Estuary has been handed £230,000 by the UK Government to develop access to wetland habitats in the area.

The cash comes as part of a national scheme to regenerate coastal communities.

Projects in Scotland were invited to bid for a share of a £4 million pot to develop economic growth and create jobs.

Edinburgh West MP Mike Crockart welcomed the news and said it was an investment in the future.

He said: “The funding will go to develop access to wetland habitats around the Forth Estuary, creating much-needed apprenticeship and job opportunities.

“With another £4m on offer in 2013, the Coastal Communities Fund will continue to support projects around Scotland’s coast.”
