Foster carer drive success

A MIDLOTHIAN campaign to recruit carers for children has increased the number of prospective foster parents in the county tenfold.

More than 40 people have contacted Midlothian Council to start the process of fostering since the campaign began in September, compared with four who registered an interest in July and August.

Social workers are now taking them through the processes involved in being approved.

Councillor Jackie Aitchison, social work spokesman, said: “By fostering, you can help give a child from Midlothian a better future.”
