Fraudster Robert Kelbie bankrupt over council tax
A CONVICTED fraudster has been made bankrupt after failing to pay his council tax.
Property developer Robert Kelbie, 31, from Newbridge, was taken to court by Edinburgh City Council after running up “substantial” arrears.
His assets have been put in the hands of a trustee who will manage them until the debt is repaid.
The ex-boxer was shot in the back four years ago and in November last year a gunman fired at a house belonging to him in Ratho Station.
Council chiefs would not disclose the size of Kelbie’s unpaid bill, but it is understood to be over £5000.
A council spokeswoman said: “We make every effort to collect council tax to ensure we have sufficient funds to provide vital services for our residents.
“It is only fair for the majority of people who do pay their council tax and other council charges that we take appropriate steps to recover the outstanding sums.”
