Fringe By The Sea festival launches community wildflower initiative Project Plant to brighten up this year's event
Fringe By The Sea is looking to brighten up this year’s festival, which will take place in North Berwick from late July until early August.
Fringe By The Sea festival is calling on local residents to get involved with this year’s festival by helping to brighten up the event with ‘Project Plant’.
The festival is launching a new initiative which will see locals families, schools, and businesses take part in a wildflower planting that will help to create a new meadow which will be on display during this year’s event.
‘Project Plant’ will aim to capture the community spirit that surrounds the Fringe By The Sea festival.

The project will see participant grow their own mini wildflower in a pot before all the flowers are gathered together for a “large-scale installation” which will take pride of place at the festival hub in North Berwick’s Lodge Grounds.
Debbie Shinton, Marketing and Partnerships Manager at Fringe by the Sea, said: “Our community projects are a highlight of the festival every year - from knitted bunting to last year’s pom pom installations, they bring colour, creativity and energy to the site.
“Project Plant is a simple but powerful idea, and we’re excited to see the community come together to grow something beautiful for 2026.”

Those who have registered will be able to collect a free planting kit from North Berwick Community Centre between 1pm and 3pm on April 24, May 1, May 8, May 15, and May 22.
Registration to take part will open on April 16 on the Fringe By The Sea website.
Flowers can be submitted at North Berwick Community Garden Centre on Friday, June 26 and Friday, July 17 ahead of the big event.
Fringe By The Sea festival will be taking place from July 31 until August 9.
This year’s event includes appearances and performances from acts such as Rudimental, Belle & Sebastian, Louis Theroux, Ian Hislop, Kool & The Gang, and Bay City Rollers among many others.
