Funding boost for kids’ cycling and tennis
The first grants from the £10 million Legacy 2014 Active Places Fund are being distributed to develop and revamp facilities to encourage greater particpation in sport and physical activity.
Tennis and petanque courts will be established at Leith Links to offer more coaching to schoolchildren. Meanwhile, Liberton High School will receive £49,900 to help upgrade its tennis court and install a new bike trail and skills area.
Sports Minister Shona Robison has urged all community groups to apply for a share of the fund.
She said: “The fund is open for further applications and I’d encourage local communities to apply.”
