Game on at historic house

a HIGHLAND games event is to be hosted at Hopetoun House in South Queensferry on August 28.

The day will feature a line-up of athletes including UK shot putt champion Scot Ryder, world heavy events champion Gregor Edmunds, and TV strongman Garry Gardiner.

Competitions include shot putt, stone putt, caber toss, Scots hammer – and a V12 classic car pull. Country pursuits on display will include falconry, fly casting and clay pigeon shooting, with the chance to try out archery with GB international and Olympic tutors.

There will also be a range of crafts and traders’ stands. Gates open at 11am, with the event running from 12.30pm to 5pm. Tickets are available on the gate. For more details see www.hopetoun.co.uk.
