Give council your views on budget

THERE are still places left for the city council’s budget consultation this weekend.

It will take place at the City Chambers on Saturday.

Last year, 2000 people took part in the discussion about budget priorities.

The local authority is set to publish its next budget on February 9.

It is estimated that the council needs to make an additional £23 million of savings next year. This brings the total estimate to £97m of savings required over the next three years.

A spokesman for the council said: “What is certain is that the latest financial forecast is going to make the council’s budget decisions even more challenging for several years to come. We continue to face tough financial challenges.”
