Gorse fire on Arthur’s Seat

FIREFIGHTERS put out a blaze on Arthur’s Seat last night after receiving dozens of calls from anxious residents.

A fire engine rushed to the city centre landmark shortly after 10pm following 47 calls from members of the public, who said they could see a large fire on Arthur’s Seat.

Crews said they had been told the fire was “quite spectacular” but, on arrival, found only a smouldering area of gorse.

An officer at Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said: “It was right at the top of the hill and visible to all of Edinburgh.”
