‘Healthy’ interest in new EICC office space

AGENTS have reported “healthy” interest in new office space that is being built as part of an extension of the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

The “Atria Edinburgh” offices are said to be progressing to plan with one year to go until they are due to be completed.

The development is split between two buildings and includes nearly 200,000 square feet of office space. It is the only speculative city centre office building in the UK outside London and the south east to offer more than 100,000sq ft by early 2013.

Significant progress has been made on both buildings recently, with the steel frame of Atria One currently at level six. The steel frame of Atria Two has now reached full height and the curtain walling installation has commenced.

Hugh Rutherford, partner at property firm Montagu Evans, joint letting agent for the development, said: “Despite there still being a year to go until completion, we have received a healthy level of early enquiries.”

Ben Reed, director at Jones Lang LaSalle, said: “As well as excellent sustainability and design features, the development benefits from being in the heart of The Exchange, Edinburgh’s premier business district, and marks the completion of Sir Terry Farrell’s masterplan for The Exchange.”
