Hibs striker denies fraud

HIBS striker Garry O’Connor has pleaded not guilty to alleged insurance fraud charges over a crash involving his £100,000 Ferrari.

The Scotland international was due to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court in person yesterday, but instead the troubled footballer stated his not guilty plea by a solicitor’s letter.

It is the third time the star, who has 16 international caps, has failed to appear in person in connection with the alleged fraud charges.

O’Connor, 28, is accused of trying to swindle £93,500 from Aviva Insurance after his F430 Spider F1 was damaged.

He will now stand trial in March to face the charges against him.
