High school appeal starts

AN appeal hearing over plans to build a new Portobello High School on a park has begun.

Portobello Park Action Group (PPAG) is opposed to the new school being built on Portobello Park and previously took a legal challenge to the Court of Session.

Judge Lady Dorrian confirmed in March that the city council did have the power to appropriate “inalienable common good land”, which prompted PPAG to lodge an 11th-hour appeal.
