Hogmanay party slated
EDINBURGH’S Hogmanay street party has been slated in a new book.
The authors of Crap Days Out claimed attending the celebration in Princes Street was like being “stuck in a Tesco car park” and also compared it to “a giant internment camp”.
The book claims tickets cost up to £90, armed police patrol the street and locals leave town to make way for the visitors.
Hogmanay organisers were furious. Pete Irvine, director of Unique Events, said: “It’s an extraordinary piece of work. So much of it is completely wrong. It’s bonkers.”
