Homes plan sent back to the drawing board

A CONTROVERSIAL housing development which would join Edinburgh and Musselburgh for the first time has been taken back to the drawing board after a series of disputes.

Residents and rival firms have been locked in a battle with council development firm EDI and landowners the Dalrymple Trust over plans to build 400 homes at Newcraighall,.

Edinburgh East MP Sheila Gilmore, who has backed residents opposed to the development, said: “I am pleased that the council has looked into how these applications were handled and listened to the local community.”

“This announcement means residents can make full objections to the plans and, crucially, folk are able to point out that these plans go against the council’s own plans for the city.”
