Hotel staff net £9k boost for football team

City hotel staff have been put through their paces to raise nearly £9000 for a local youth football team.

The Caledonian Hilton Edinburgh netted the cash through a fundraiser that saw hotel teams from across Europe attempt to virtually circumnavigate the Earth by walking, running and cycling.

Hundreds of people took part in the local effort, with the proceeds being donated to Lasswade Thistle Football Club.

The hotel held a fundraising challenge in its Castle Lounge where team members, Lasswade Thistle Youth Academy, and members of the public worked together to clock up 2168 kilometres on stationary bicycles in seven hours.

The hotel also joined Lasswade Thistle Youth Academy to host a special family fun day in May, raising £3091.92.
