Hoteliers mix old and new

A BOUTIQUE hotel has re-opened to guests following a £220,000 refurbishment.

Dunstane House, to the west of the city centre, has seen the revamp of its bar, restaurant and five of its bedrooms.

Work on the building’s interiors began in January, when owners Shirley and Derek Mowat decided it was time for a fresh style.

Mrs Mowat said: “When we bought the property in 1998, we loved the Victorian architecture and classic country house feel, and will always want to be sympathetic to that.

“However, we definitely felt it was time to add a touch of modern luxury.

“It was important to us that we weren’t closed for too long. The overhaul saw the creation of three new bedrooms, while original features such as cornicing and the classic fireplace have been lovingly retained.”
