Housing developer launches Millerhill project

Award winning family housebuilder, Mactaggart & Mickel Homes, has launched its new Millerhill development marking the first major milestone of the wider Shawfair project.

Twenty-three homes were released by the housebuilder on Early Bird option with five properties snapped up on the first day of release. This follows record interest from the public with more than 500 people signing up to find out more about the development.

Part of the £200m development by Shawfair LLP, which is being delivered as part of a joint venture between Mactaggart & Mickel Homes and Buccleuch Property, Millerhill will consist of 138 homes ranging from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom detached villas, and 32 affordable homes.

The overall proposal for Shawfair will deliver 4,000 homes, new schools, business spaces and public amenities, built around a thriving town centre and railway station which will be connected by the Borders Railway and provide direct access to the capital in 15 minutes. The development is the largest urban expansion in Edinburgh and Midlothian and will revitalise the edge of the city.

The Millerhill development has been designed with the aim of creating a brand new neighbourhood, around the Millerhill Community Hub which will provide a mixture or local retail and community facilities.

Some of the family housebuilder’s most popular house styles will be featured at the development including the three-bedroom Broom and four-bedroom Arran. There will also be a number of one and two-bedroom apartments available.

Millerhill has been designed with green space in the form of a village square at its heart.

“The wider Shawfair development will also provide two new primary schools and a brand new secondary school campus and other community facilities including a public library and community hall.

A sales centre and showhome will be opening at Millerhill in the coming months.
