Hoy family’s pride over latest victory

THE family of Chris Hoy have spoken of their pride after his victory in the Track Cycling World Championships at the weekend, but also their Olympic ticket frustrations.

Hoy – a gold medallist in Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008 – won his latest world title in the men’s keirin race in Melbourne.

But his family have again expressed frustration that they are struggling to secure tickets to see Hoy in action on home soil at the London Olympics.

Chris’ uncle Derek said: ““We just want to be able to buy some tickets for Chris’ events but we are having problems. We are not quibbling about paying for any tickets, even the two tickets allocated to each athlete.”

Chris’ dad David said: “We would just like to see him compete in London rather than watch him on the TV.

“But we are not putting any pressure on because we don’t want Chris to get dragged into it.”
