Huge police appeal after young child in pink snowsuit found alone in Edinburgh

Police are appealing for information after a young child was found alone near Whitson Way in the Stenhouse area of the city.

The young girl, who is wearing a pink snowsuit, was found around 9.30am this morning.

The child was found on Whitson Way.

She is now in the care of Police Scotland and the Local Authority.

There is a heavy police presence in the area as officers attempt to trace the parent or guardian of the child.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Efforts are under way to trace the parents or guardian of the young girl who was found around 9:35am this morning, and is now in the care of Police Scotland and the Local Authority.

"The young girl is dressed for the outdoors in a pink snowsuit.

"If you have any information, please call officers on 101, quoting incident number 0843 of 19 December 2019."
