In pictures: Sea of red descends on Edinburgh for mass Kate Bush dance tribute

Hundreds of Kate Bush fans dressed entirely in red descended on Edinburgh’s Meadows on Saturday

Around 700 Kate Bush fans transformed Edinburgh’s Meadows into a vibrant sea of red as they gathered to recreate the singer's iconic Wuthering Heights music video.

Despite gloomy and overcast skies replacing the hoped-for summer sunshine, the rain held off for the dancers taking part in the mass tribute on Saturday afternoon during the 51st Meadows Festival.

If anything, the dreich skies provided a fittingly dramatic and brooding backdrop for a tribute to the legendary 1978 hit song, which was inspired by Emily Bronte’s gothic novel.

Participants dressed head-to-toe in flowing red dresses and bold costumes to emulate Kate Bush's distinctive choreography as showcased in her famous video.

Event organiser Elspeth Spalding led the dedicated group through an aerobic warm-up and practice runs off Melville Drive. Assembled crowds were then treated to a joyful final performance and a full run-through of the routine.

The Edinburgh iteration of 'The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever' was part of a wider global cultural movement, joining similar tribute events in cities across the globe from Sydney to San Francisco.

Entirely operated by volunteers, the inclusive community celebration helped raise funds for the Meadows Charity.
