Jewellery taken in break-in

THIEVES made off with jewellery worth thousands of pounds after forcing open the rear window of a home.

The break-in took place between February 28 and March 6 from a property in Main Street in Gullane, East Lothian.

Lothian and Borders Police said that a number of items of jewellery were stolen during the raid.

A police spokesman said: “At this time we are urging residents to secure their property against housebreakings, by ensuring that their doors, windows and any outbuildings such as garages and sheds are secure.

“Anyone who has any information that can assist police in their inquiries should contact the non-emergency number 101, or make a report anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
