Jobs boost as life sciences firm expands

UP to ten new jobs are to be created in the Capital thanks to the expansion of a life sciences company.

Edinburgh-based Aridhia has struck a deal with United States firm Glencoe Software and needs the workers for its city centre base.

It is hoped the growth of the company will also add to the city’s burgeoning reputation as a world leader in life sciences.

Aridhia’s speciality is storing and analysing healthcare data from across the world and using it to suggest solutions for laboratories.

Dr David Sibbald, its chairman, said: “We relish the opportunity to partner with Glencoe. This will act as an accelerator to link the laboratory to the clinic.

“We see this investment as prescient with the real prospect of using individual genetic and imaging information to tailor treatment for individual patients, so-called personalised medicine.

“We anticipate it will not only deliver real benefits to patients and healthcare professionals but will also deliver economic advantages associated with world-leading, unique research.”
