The club's Under-20 coach has been working as interim head coach since Ian Cathro was sacked at the start of the month. He will continue in that role at Fir Park, assisted by fellow coaches Austin MacPhee and Liam Fox.

Hearts directors are weighing up their options to replace Cathro but are relaxed with Daly in temporary control. Billy Davies has dropped out of the running for the job, leaving Daly in contention with former club captains Steven Pressley and Paul Hartley.

Davies' withdrawal follows news that previous applicants Dougie Freedman and Steve McClaren have taken jobs at Crystal Palace and Maccabi Tel Aviv respectively.

The Hearts owner Ann Budge must now decide whether to appoint one of Daly, Pressley or Hartley or look elsewhere for a different candidate.
