Lip-reading service call

LIP-READING should be offered to all people with hearing loss, according to Edinburgh Southern SNP MSP Jim Eadie.

He has tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament backing the campaign by the Scottish Council on Deafness to ensure the skill becomes part of hearing loss rehabilitation and calling for lip-reading classes to be funded as part of rehabilitation support with no cost to the learner.

The motion also urges the Scottish Government to work with local authorities and the Audiology Services Advisory Group on the issue.
