Literary prize nominations are revealed
American historian Manning Marable, who died days before his biography of Malcolm X was published, has been shortlisted for the biography award.
Marable is up against Ben Jonson: A Life by Ian Donaldson, The Last Pre-Raphaelite Edward Burne-Jones and the Victorian Imagination by Fiona MacCarthy, and Nikolaus Pevsner: The Life by Susie Harries.

Hide AdIn the fiction category, AD Miller is listed for debut novel Snowdrops, while Solace by Belinda McKeon, You and I by Padgett Powell and There But For The by Ali Smith, are also in the running.
Winners of each of the two James Tait Black Prizes, Britain’s oldest literary awards, receive £10,000. Winning entries will be announced as part of the Edinburgh International Book Festival in August.
