Loony dookers take plunge early

Participants in this year’s Loony Dook might want to consider a quieter Hogmanay this year – with the event set to start at 9am.

Organisers are staging the Dook earlier in the day to ensure there is enough beach available for the number of people expected to take part.

The famous event sees entrants, many in fancy dress, plunge into the River Forth at South Queensferry on New Year’s Day.

Registered Dookers must check in at the RNLI station on the Hawes Pier from 9am on January 1 before joining the parade at 11am.
