Loretto pupils talk the talk to capture title

PUPILS from Loretto Junior School have won the prestigious School Mock Court Case competition after their debating skills impressed judges.

The pupils faced stiff competition from primary schools in Scotland’s central belt.

The Year 6 class from Loretto Junior School faced a Year 7 team from George Watson’s College in the final at Central Halls earlier this month. The School Mock Court Case, which has regularly featured on both the BBC and ITV, began in 2010 to help youngsters get a better understanding of the law.

“It has shown them what they really can achieve when facing a tough challenge.”

He added: “I do congratulate all the competitors who took part and it is a particular feather in the cap of Loretto Junior School for winning the competition outright.”
