Lorry driver hospitalised

Two HGVs collided with a broken down Ford Focus on the A1 near the Macmerry junction around 8.40am yesterday. The driver of one of the vehicles suffered leg injuries when his cab was partly crushed and was trapped for around an hour. The east-bound carriageway was closed for some time.

The driver of the Focus was not inside the car and is not thought to be injured.
