Man, 52, dies in hospital after falling unwell on Edinburgh street where people 'stepped over and walked round his body'

A 52-year-old man has died in hospital after being found unwell in an Edinburgh street.

Police confirmed they were called to Piersfield Terrace shortly before 5:30pm on Saturday and said the man was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

According to The Sun, the incident happened near to a bus shelter outside the Machine Mart tool store. A source also told the newspaper that the man’s body was lying there for nearly an hour before emergency services were called, and that “people were stepping over his body and walking around him.”

A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called around 5.25pm on Saturday 18 April, to a report of a man unwell on Piersfield Terrace, Edinburgh.

“Police and ambulance attended and the 52-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he died a short time later.”
