Man arrested over drugs

A MAN has been arrested by police after a package containing cannabis was sent from India to the Capital through the post.

Officers from Border Force carried out an operation to intercept the parcel at an address in Wardlaw Place, Gorgie, on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, Border Force worked with Lothian and Borders Police, whose officers carried out a search and seized around 1.25kg of cannabis resin, worth more than £7000.

The 43-year-old man was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.

Detective Inspector Gordon McCreadie said: “This is another excellent example of partnership co-operation between two law enforcement agencies, which 
has resulted in a sizeable quantity of cannabis 
being recovered. before it could reach our 
communities.”
