Man dies during disturbance at Edinburgh shop

A MAN has died after taking unwell during what police have called a disturbance at a shop in Tollcross.

Officers say they were called to a premises on Home Street at around 2.10pm following reports of a man causing a disturbance.

A 64-year-old man in the shop fell ill and later died.

A man has been arrested and inquiries are continuing.

This evening the Emporium 62 shop on Home Street, opposite the King’s Theatre, was taped off.

Officers at the scene would not comment on the incident.

A police spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh are investigating following a disturbance in the Tollcross area.

“Officers were called to a premises on Home Street at around 2.10pm following reports of a man causing a disturbance.

“During this time a 64-year-old man took unwell on the premises and subsequently died.

“A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries remain ongoing.”
