Man growing cannabis could have made £3200 selling it

A MAN who was caught growing cannabis in his home could have pocketed £3200 from selling the drug, a court has heard.

Scott Mackie, 22, was arrested after police raided his home in Gorebridge, Midlothian, in August 2010, Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard yesterday.

Officers found 29 hash plants and lamps which were used to cultivate the narcotic in his property’s loft. Mackie, now of Dalkeith, Midlothian, pleaded guilty to the August 2010 charge of producing a controlled drug before Sheriff Derrick McIntyre.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to appear at a hearing in Edinburgh Sheriff Court in October 2011.

At the hearing, sentence was deferred until next month in order to allow time for the court to receive reports.
