Man hunted after elderly woman attacked and robbed

A MAN is being hunted by police after an elderly woman was attacked the day after a failed attempt to steal a mobile phone from a teenage girl.

The girl was targeted as she walked alone along Saughton Road North near to the junction for Broomhouse Drive on Monday night around 8.50pm.

A man pushing a black bike crossed the road and started talking to her before demanding that she handle over her phone. The girl managed to run away and told her parents.

The male is described as white, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 8ins tall, gaunt facial features and wearing a black anorak jacket with the hood up and a scarf over his mouth.

Detective Sergeant Robbie Wallace who is based at Corstorphine Police Station said: “The girl was not harmed and did not surrender any of her personal belongings.”

A man with a similar is description is being hunted after an elderly woman had her handbag snatched. The incident happened on Tuesday at 6.30pm as the woman in her 70s approached the junction of Saughton Mains Terrace and Dania Court.
