Medals of greatest pilot ever on show in East Lothian


Leith-born Captain Eric “Winkle” Brown CBE was also the most-decorated pilot in the history of the Royal Navy.
His medals and log books will be displayed in Scotland for the first time at the National Museum of Flight in East Fortune until June 30.

Hide AdAfter leaving the Royal High School, Cpt Brown studied German at the University of Edinburgh before beginning his stellar aviation career at the start of the Second World War. He went on to fly 487 different types of aircraft – more than anyone else in history. Brown holds the world record for performing the most aircraft carrier take-offs and landings.
