The season of ghouls and ghosts is almost upon us and Halloween lovers across Edinburgh will be praying the weather is less trick and more treat as the frightful day closes in. We’ve taken a look at what the Met Office has said, so you can prepare for Halloween weekend.

With a host of Halloween events occurring in Edinburgh this weekend, residents across the city will want to make sure they’ve tweaked their costumes to perfection prior to heading out. While performance is key, practicality often takes the back seat and there’s nothing worse than a submerged bowl of sweets and flooded face paint looking more sad than scary.

According to the Met Office, Edinburgh weather will be “occasionally unsettled” with generally mild temperatures afoot. Residents should expect mainly cloudy conditions with “showers or longer periods of rain.” However, there will be brighter and drier periods amongst the wet.

Heavy rain is expected on Friday and Sunday while Saturday looks to remain cloudy for most parts of the day. Temperatures across the weekend will peak at 15 but are expected to drop to around 10 on Saturday morning.

As Hallows Eve ends and Halloween begins, unsettled weather will continue as “banded rain’’ or showers move across the country.” There is the potential for intermittent sunny spells in-between showers but Monday will be dominated by mainly unsettled weather and wind at times.
