Milnes Bar toasts top pub award

A CITY centre pub has been named as one of the UK’s best following a successful summer.

Milnes Bar, which is based at the junction of Rose Street and Hanover Street, picked up the accolade as the UK’s best summer pub at an event run by owners Spirit Group.

Organisers praised the popular bar’s commitment to customer experience, service at the bar and financial performance.

General manager David McMillan said the victory gave both him and staff members satisfaction that the hard work during what was a colder-than-normal summer paid off.

He said: “We were absolutely thrilled to be awarded a Best Award in recognition of the hard work that we put in over the summer season.

“Our success is down to the dedication and enthusiasm of our team, who are committed to putting our guests first and making sure they have a great experience each time they visit our pub.”

Milnes fought off competition from 800 pubs across the country, and was also praised for the quality of its food.

Managers were given the prize at an event at Alton Towers earlier this week.
