More care for OAPs at home

THE number of organisations providing care at home for elderly and vulnerable people is set to double, the council has said.

Set-ups that provide support for pensioners and people with severe disabilities will increase from nine to 18 as part of a shift towards people remaining, where possible, in their own homes.

Edinburgh’s health and social care leader Councillor Paul Edie said: “Increasing the number of providers in the city is great news as this will help reduce delays in providing care and support to those leaving hospital or living at home.”
