MSP joins future pupils on visit to new joint campus school site

A SCOTTISH minister has visited the building site of a new joint campus school in Haddington due for completion in 2012.

Alex Neil MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment, was greeted by East Lothian provost Sheena Richardson alongside ten pupils from St Mary’s RC Primary School and Haddington Infant School when he dropped in on Tuesday.

The joint campus approach, with accommodation for a non-denomination infant school and a Roman Catholic primary school, was the preferred option following a consultation with teachers, parents and the wider community in Haddington.

Mr Neil said: “It is incredibly exciting for me to see the work at Haddington Joint Campus get under way and to welcome to the site some of the children who will attend the school when it is ready.”

Provost Richardson added: “The new school will provide educational facilities that will be second to none and will follow the superb new Dunbar and Sanderson’s Wynd primary schools and the award-winning Windygoul Primary.”
