Multi-lingual plea in city murder hunt

Police have issued an appeal in several languages to find out more about murder victim Maciej Ciania.

The 34-year-old Polish man was found in his home in Dickson Street at around 9am on Saturday by his flatmate.

He was last seen alive on Thursday morning, and detectives are currently trying to piece together his last movements to bring them closer to finding his killer.

An appeal for friends and associates of Mr Ciania has now been translated into Polish, Russian and Lithuanian and placed on the Lothian and Borders Police website in order to reach the Eastern European communities.

Officers know little about Mr Ciania’s lifestyle and are appealing to anyone who knew him, or who may have worked with him in the past.

A team of 40 officers is currently working on the case.
