Murder trial jurors shown pictures of victim’s autopsy

A MURDER trial jury has been shown graphic images of a post-mortem carried out on a 55-year-old man.

They were issued with photographs showing the body of Australian journalist Thomas Graham Allwood laid out on a mortuary slab along with close-ups of the stab wound which killed him.

Proceedings at the High Court in Livingston were halted yesterday after one squeamish juror complained of feeling light-headed and left the room. Kyle Montgomery, 24, from Winchburgh, West Lothian, denies murdering Mr Allwood in nearby Broxburn by striking him on the body with a knife on June 21 this year.

The jury of three men and 12 women listened to more than three hours of medical evidence from forensic pathologist Dr Robert Ainsworth.

He said the most significant injury Mr Allwood suffered was a single, six-inch deep wound in the left side of his chest.

The trial continues.
