King Charles Coronation: Edinburgh places which have special connections to King Charles III and the Royal Family
New king Charles III and the Royal Family are no strangers to Edinburgh. And the Queen’s lying at rest in St Giles Cathedral following her death last year at the age of 96 cemented the city’s place in recent Royal history.
As the coronation approaches, here are some of the familiar buildings in the Capital which have a special link with Charles and his family.

9. Johnnie Walker Experience
Charles and the other Royals are fairly frequent visitors to Edinburgh and have visited or opened many places around the city. When Charles and Camilla were here in October 2021 he officially opened the new Johnnie Walker Experience in the former House of Fraser building in Princes Street. He toured the eight-floor tourist attraction, met employees and enjoyed a sip of his own bespoke whisky cocktail. He also unveiled a plaque on the rooftop terrace bar, where he admired the stunning views of the Castle, and met students from the Johnnie Walker Learning For Life Academy.
